Definition: Article 31 of REACH sets when a safety data sheet must be supplied, in which language, and that it must be provided free of charge no later than the first delivery.
An SDS is mandatory for substances and mixtures classified as hazardous under CLP, for PBT or vPvB substances and for Candidate List substances. Mixtures that are not classified but contain certain hazardous or SVHC ingredients need an SDS on request.
The SDS must be in an official language of the Member State where the product is placed on the market, and it must be updated without delay when new hazard information or an authorisation or restriction becomes available.
