SDS Studio™Definition: A precautionary statement is a standard phrase from CLP Annex IV, coded P1xx to P5xx, that recommends measures to prevent or respond to a hazard, for example P280 Wear protective gloves.
P1xx are general, P2xx prevention, P3xx response, P4xx storage and P5xx disposal statements. Combined statements such as P302+P352 count as one.
The supplier selects the P statements relevant to the use; CLP Article 28(3) allows no more than six P statements on the label, unless more are needed to reflect the nature and severity of the hazards.

P281 and P322 were removed from CLP Annex IV by the 4th adaptation (Commission Regulation (EU) No 487/2013). Older SDSs still show them; current SDSs and labels must not.
